San Pedro gears up for the Christmas Season Celebrations

With the Christmas Season slowly creeping up, so are the countless events that come along with the season. In San Pedro Town, there is no shortage of activities and already the island is preparing for a number of activities leading up to all the grand Christmas parties and celebrations. Kicking off the month-long activities is the annual Christmas Lighted Boat Parade, and even The San Pedro Sun joins in the spirit as it has every year since 2006, while Love FM joins the islanders with their now-annual parade geared mostly for the young ones of our community. Read more below on what all you can expect for this 2012 Christmas season!!

San Pedro Holiday Boat Parade

Since 2006 the annual San Pedro Holiday Boat Parade has ushered in the season in grand style, with beautifully lit boats dotting the seas and parading up and down for all spectators to ooh and aah from the beach. This year, the San Pedro Business Association is responsible for bringing in the Christmas cheer, and they are geared up for the best ever Christmas Holiday Boat Parade.
Scheduled for Saturday, December 8th, the boat parade will once again bring much holiday cheer as the brightly decorated boats set sail at 6 pm from Wayo’s dock, southbound to Caribbean Villas then north to the Central Park, where it traditionally ends with a wonderful party.
It promises to be a night of fun, food, drinks and spectacular Christmas colors and Santa will be at the Saga Booth ready to pose with you and your loved ones. Already confirmed for the parade are the Lion’s Club, The San Pedro AIDS Commission, Seaduced, Isla Bonita Elementary and Holy Cross Anglican School. Award ceremonies will start around 8:30 pm. Winning Boat Prizes are: 1st Prize $1,500.00, 2nd. Prize $750.00, 3rd Prize $500.00, with many other prizes to be announced. Event Sponsors include: Sunrise Realty, Quicksilver, Fido’s and Caribbean Villas. The Love FM San Pedro Christmas Parade

On Sunday December 9th, join the Love Crew in La Isla Bonita for the Love FM San Pedro Christmas Parade. Bring out the children to see Santa, Barney and Dora too and be a part of the fun. Enjoy the music of the San Pedro RC School and The Isla Bonita Marching Bands, as they entertain us with your favorite Christmas music. Look out for the San Pedro Dance Academy and the Alexander Dance Group as they strut their stuff through the streets of La Isla Bonita in the Love FM San Pedro Christmas Parade.
The parade route will start at Boca Del Rio on Laguna Drive then move on to Pescador Drive, left into Tarpon street and on to Barrier Reef Drive. The parade will end at the Central Park in San Pedro Town.

Press Release – The San Pedro Sun – November 23, 2012 – The holiday season will be here before you know it and already the first signs of Christmas coming are the bright lights that are decorating storefronts and homes.
The phrase “less is more” takes on a new meaning when it comes to Christmas lights but when it comes to artistic talent, more is better. This year, for the 8th consecutive year, The San Pedro Sun invites residents and business owners of San Pedro to take the time to decorate their homes and establishments in the spirit of the season and have a chance to win dozens of spectacular prizes in The San Pedro Sun’s Eighth Annual Caribbean Christmas Colors Contest.
Judging will take place on the evening of Saturday, December 15th when the judges will ride through every possible nook and cranny of San Pedro Town admiring the spectacular sights. They will have the final decision as to who the winners will be and the lucky holiday decorators will be announced in the special Christmas & New Year’s issue of The San Pedro Sun on Friday, December 21st.
This season the community is invited to beautify their property for the holiday season. Between figurines, both store-bought and homemade, nativity scenes, light displays and completely decorated homes, the event is open to everyone. Each year businesses generously donate prizes that included dinners, sailing trips, home appliances and golf cart rentals to name a few.

Other events include the annual Children Christmas Party, the annual Caroling and the Senior Citizen Dinner all organized by the San Pedro Lions Club. More details will be forthcoming on these events as the date draws nearer, so get your calendars ready and prepare for a most MERRY SEASON!
