Two homes lost to blaze

Around 3:15 p.m., The San Pedro Sun Newspaper received a call that a fire was under way in the Backatown area of San Pedro. Two wooden structures housed in one lot, one of them belonging to long-standing Lion member Gonzalo “Reds” Lara, were completely engulfed in flames.
A large cloud of smoke billows over the lagoon…
Spectators gather round the fire, where firemen attempt to douse the flames.

A six-month old baby was rescued from the building, and was rushed to the San Pedro PolyClinic. The baby is being tended to by Dr. Javier Zuniga, who explained that although being treated for third degree burns, the baby is in stable condition.

More details will be posted as they become available.
