Closing days of the Embassy of Mexico

Press Release – Embassy of Mexico, Belmopan, Belize – 20 December 2011– The Embassy of Mexico informs that its office in Belmopan, the Consular Section and the Institute of Mexico, both in Belize City will be closed on December 26 and 27, 2011 and Monday, January 2, 2012.

The Honorary Consulate of Mexico in Corozal will close from December 22, 2011 to January 5, 2012. Belizeans are welcome to visit Mexico and are reminded that they do not require visa to visit anywhere in Mexico. They only need to present a valid Belizean passport and fill out the immigration form called “Forma Migratoria Múltiple” (FMM). It can be obtained at any Mexican border or at any airport. If a visitor stays more than seven (7) consecutive days in Mexico, a fee of $262 pesos (about BZ$44 Belizean Dollars) must be paid at any bank before leaving Mexico.

Belizeans can also enter Mexico using a border card called “FMVL”, which entitle its holder to visit up to three (3) consecutive days the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, which includes cities such as Chetumal, Bacalar, Mahahual, Tulum, Playa del Carmen and Cancun.
Nationals of other countries should contact the Mexican Embassy to inquire if a visa is required to visit Mexico.
