Rolando Espat Jr Gunned Down in San Pedrito

POLICE REPORT – September 6, 2014 –   On Saturday 06.09.14 at about 12:20 a.m. San Pedro Police personnel visited the San Pedro Poly Clinic where they saw the body of a male Hispanic person identified as 22-year-old ROLANDO ESPAT JR,fisherman of San Pedrito area, San Pedro Town. The body was observed with apparent gunshot wounds to the chest, left cheek and right upper thigh. Initial investigation revealed that at about 12:15 a.m. Espat was heading home when at about 50 feet away from his house he was approached from behind by a male Hispanic person who fired several shots at Espat causing his fatal injuries. The culprit then made good his escape.
Police have recovered one 9 mm expended shell and slug from the scene. Espat was pronounced dead at12:48 am. Police have since detained a 27-year-old man of San Juan Area, San Pedro Town pending charges. The body of Rolando Espat was transported to Belize City to K.H.M.H Morgue where it awaits a Post Mortem Examination.
