Maestro Reyes School of Knowledge

Saturday and Sunday June 23rd and 24th were the days of graduations for three primary schools here on the island. Proud parents, families and friends converged at the various locations to celebrate this milestone in the students’ lives.

 

Kicking off the graduations was MRSK – Maestro Reyes School of Knowledge which marked the end of an era for MRSK, being the last graduation for Principal Leonel Reyes as he is now retiring. In an emotional speech, Reyes expressed his gratitude to the community of San Pedro and everyone for their continuous support throughout his 45 year teaching career as well as congratulated the many graduates that had passed through his doors on their various accomplishments and successes.

Following the commencement mass, the graduation ceremony took place with Kieran Nuñez offering the valedictory address while Kasia Reyes delivered the Vote of Thanks as well as presented a token of appreciation to Mr. Reyes. Other graduates from MRSK include: Ezra Jacobs, Gillian Paz, Kayleen Gonzalez, Aurelio Batun, Naigel Cob, Robert Halliday and Samir Mejia.

 

San Pedro Roman Catholic School graduated 55 students

San Pedro Roman Catholic School (SPRCS) said goodbye to 55 students during Saturday’s Graduation Ceremonies. Under the theme “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” the graduating class rejoiced in their many accomplishments as they proudly accepted their various awards and certificate of achievements.

 

Mistress of Ceremony for the SPRCS graduation was Ms Giselle Xiomarie Flores while the welcome address was given by Yasir Roberts. Guest Speaker Felix Sutherland encouraged the children to hold high their goals and be steadfast in pursuing their education. The Valedictory address was given by Tanairi Arana, who also received the highest score on the island in 2012’s Primary School Examination and sixth country wide. Vote of thanks was given by Delmi Garcia. During the ceremony, Principal Roxani Kay took the opportunity to present retiring teacher, Leni Flores, who has been with the SPRCS for the past 33 years, with a glass plaque as a token of appreciation for her many years of service to the children of San Pedro.

Holy Cross Anglican School graduates 34

HCAS held its graduation exercise on Sunday June 24th at the Paradise Theater. A theater was packed with well wishers, families and friends. Master of Ceremonies for the event was Mr. Daniel Jones. Following the parade of graduates, a prayer was offered by Mrs. Francis Wilson and the National Anthem marking the official commencement of the ceremonies.

The welcome Address was given by Joselein Vasquez, following which Mrs. Grace Williams, principal of Holy Cross addressed the graduates.  Presentations included a poem by the Infant One class; a poem to the graduates by Mr. Aaron Thomas, published poet and teacher at Holy Cross; a Medley by Holy Cross middle school and a poem by Holy Cross upper grades.

The valedictory address was given by Kendice Armstrong followed by a song by the graduates to the tune of R Kelly’s “The World’s Greatest”. Guest speaker for the ceremony was District Education Officer for Belize Rural South, Dr. Candy Armstrong while Joselein Vasquez was the Salutorian. Following the ceremony, the vote of thanks was given by Fenisha Williams.

The San Pedro Sun joins in congratulating all the students that worked tirelessly to complete their elementary education and participate in the 2012 graduation exercise, and wishes them the best in their future endeavors as they prepare to tackle the next four years of high school and beyond.
