Less than a week after classes closed for the Christmas holidays, the San Pedro Roman Catholic School (SPRCS) has been burglarized and wrecked once more. On Monday, December 21st, staff of the school discovered that the Infant division classes had been broken into and damaged.
According to SPRCS Infant One teacher Apolonius Acosta, school staff was making regular inspections during the holidays when they noticed that the building had been entered during their absence. Closer inspections revealed that not only did criminal elements gain entrance to the building but wrecked a part of the ceiling, scattered and destroyed books and took off with various school supplies. In addition, Teacher Acosta stated that a new door was stumped open and broken in two parts.
Three classes were burglarized and according to Teacher Acosta, he wants the public to be aware of the "act of shame" towards the school's property. "The school benefits the entire community and it should be the joint responsibility of the public and school management to protect it," stated Acosta.
While Acosta condemned the acts, he is appealing to those responsible to refrain from such actions against the school. According to Acosta his class was repaired a few weeks ago after a similar incident. And these are not the only two times that the Infant Division has been vandalized. No arrest has been made and while police continues their investigation, they are appealing to anyone with information to call the San Pedro Police Department at 226-2022.
