With much pomp and circumstance, “The Pearl of the Caribbean” as named by Honorable Manuel Heredia Jr. was officially inaugurated on Saturday, April 15th, 2006. Tranquility Bay, nestled on twelve acres of pristine land, just inside the magnificent Belize Barrier Reef, is actually located inside the new Bacalar Chico National Park and the United Nations World Heritage Site.
Boats were on call to take people north to Tranquility Bay for the grand festivities. The sunny skies where accentuated by the wonderful sounds of the barrier reef as the ceremony got underway. Eiden Salazar, manager of Reef Radio, was on hand as Master of Ceremonies and called on Dr. Richard Strand, partner at Tranquility Bay, for the welcome address. “Wow! What a great day and Belize – What a great country! Belize’s greatest asset is the friendliness and the warmth of its people. […] Tranquility Bay represents the quiet location. […] The Tackle Box Sea Bar is named in honor of Allan Forman Sr. […] And, our company is called American-Belize Partners in honor of our hardworking Belizean friends. Tranquility Bay is a place to find great food, and a well-stocked bar, and we welcome all our Belizean visitors to come and enjoy our facilities as well. For us (him and his partners) dreams and .reality have become one. I love Belize and its people, it is my favorite spot in the world,” commented Dr. Strand.
Honorable Manuel Heredia Jr. took time off from his busy schedule to enjoy the inauguration and stated, “Tranquility Bay is an example of what genuine investors offer Ambergris Caye. It’s such a great pleasure to be here today.”
Prime Minister Honorable Said Musa and his family were also present for the inaugural festivities, “Arriving at Tranquility Bay, I realized that this must be one of the most beautiful spots in the entire country of Belize. […] The name is a perfect choice for the peaceful surrounding and services offered at this location.”
Manager Pany Arceo took to the stage for the Vote of Thanks and acknowledged everyone’s presence and said, “It’s more than an honor to see what we have accomplished in a year and six months. […] This very location is where my great grandfather harvested coconuts now its no more coconuts but complete tranquility.”
The San Pedro Dance Company delighted everyone with their suave music, fantastic musical choices, and exquisite costumes. Delicious food was enjoyed along with the musical beats of Mr. Peters and his Boom and Chime. The king of “brukdown” music in Belize is undeniably the indescribable Mr. Wilfred Peters. Accordion in hand, Peters and his scratch band of banjo, boom-drum, tumbas, ding-a-ling, electric guitar, jaw-bones and bass crank out music as irresistible as anything from the bayous of Louisiana, which certainly had the party and its goers shaking to the beats.

Terrific fresh, local Caribbean cuisine is served at the Tackle Box, in addition to your favorite cocktail. Beach cookouts and barbeques will be regular events and the bar will be full service and loaded with character. The bar itself is half of a wooden speedboat. Future plans include offering the largest collection of Tequilas in the Caribbean, in addition to serving that wonderful staple of Belize, ice cold Belikin beer.
The crystal clear Caribbean Sea at the Basil Jones cut has become a favorite fishing, sailing, snorkeling and diving spot. The Basil Jones cut is at Tranquility Bay’s front door and their on-site water sports team will help each guest enjoy and explore these natural wonders.
Watching the sun set over the picturesque, coconut palm-lined beach or watching the moon rise over the darkening Caribbean Sea creates an impossibly romantic mood.
