The SACNW substation has been fruitful in assisting the San Pedro Police Department. Last week Thursday, Patt and his officers managed to apprehend individuals who had been reported to have stolen a bicycle from the area. Fast response caused the individuals to be apprehended by the WASA pond. Photo Courtesy of: Joe Lawrence.

In issue number 31 of this year’s San Pedro Sun, it was announced that the South Ambergris Caye Neighborhood Watch (SACNW) had major developments in their “neck of the woods”. With the substation building donated by Pelican Reef Villas, SACNW was well on their way to get things moving and shaking.
With a substation erected, the first item on the agenda was to locate individuals who would be posted at the building. This came in the form of a security commander, two security officers and one police officer. Security commander for the substation and employed by SACNW is Humberto Patt, while PC Clarke has been assigned to the post of officer at the substation.
SACNW hopes to offer its residents and visitors a safe and enjoyable stay on the South of the island. It is their hope to raise approximately $110,000 annually which will be used for payroll, purchase of equipment and monthly expenses such as gas, electricity and telephone service. SACNW plans on raising this money in the form of donations and are asking residents in the area to assist as much or as little as they can. There is no set price to participate and donors can contribute monthly, quarterly or annually. However, SACNW also plans on hosting various fundraisers which will ultimately help in meeting their goal.
The officer, guard and commanding officer stationed at the substation have been equipped with an All Terrain Vehicle which will assist in the patrols of the south side of town. With proper radio equipment, SACNW hopes to reduce crime incidences.
The community security patrol and substation is a pilot project which was approved and implemented with the help and support of Minister Manuel Heredia Jr., and Officer in Charge Dennis Arnold who works closely with SACNW.
