The National Environmental Appraisal Committee (NEAC) met on Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 to discuss their findings and results based on the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) submitted by South Beach Belize.
Although details are still a bit sketchy, Martin Alegria, Chief Executive Officer for the Department of the Environment and a member of NEAC, stated that some recommendations were made and questions were posed.
Developer Jeff Pierce stated that he has not received his official letter from NEAC and is awaiting that, prior to discussing the matter with the media.
Alegria ended by commenting that once they receive the feedback that was requested to South Beach, the board will meet once more before coming to a final decision.
Details of what the recommendations and questions were will be reported in next week’s issue of The San Pedro Sun.
