On Tuesday, March 10th, 2009, Prime Minister Dean Barrow advised His Excellency Governor General Sir Colville Young of Ministerial changes which would take place in the interest of smooth functioning of the business of Government.
Honorable Manuel Heredia Jr., Area Representative for Belize Rural South, was assigned the additional responsibility of Minister of Culture. This portfolio was previously held by Minister of Youth and Sports Marcel Cardona. Honorable Heredia is now Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Culture.
Two other Ministerial changes were carried out and on March 12th, the two ministers were officially sworn in. Swearing In ceremonies held at the Belize House in Belmopan City were celebrated for Honorable Elvin Penner, the newly appointed Minister of Youth, Sports, Information and Broadcasting and also for Honorable Marco Pech, Minister of State in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
The Oath of Allegiance and Office was read by the Governor General, Sir Colville Young to both Ministers in the presence of several colleague Ministers, family and friends.
Both Ministers expressed their gratitude to the Prime Minister and to the people of Belize for allowing them the opportunity to serve in the respective ministries.
