Lion Graniel takes his oath.

Lions clubs from all over Belize held a special ceremony to install a new Chair of the Lions Zone 59 clubs. The ceremony took place on Sunday morning at the San Pedro Lion’s Den in San Pedro where Senior Justice of the Peace, veteran Lion member and past San Pedro Lions President and Zone Chair, Baldemar Graniel was duly installed.
In handing over the mantle of leadership, Past Zone 59 Chair, Lion Carol Cabral outlined the achievements of the Zone during her year as chair. Amongst those accomplishments was the chartering of a new branch of the Belize City Lions Club; Burrell Boom Lions Club. Lion Cabral also announced that ground work has begun for an all female Lions Club to be chartered in the Stann Creek District. In addition Lion Cabral stated that the Lions Quest program has been ongoing and extended to include more schools. As for facilitating eye clinics and health care, she explained that the Zone had invested a lot of effort in continuing to provide those services to the many needed individuals.
Following the outgoing Chair remarks, Past District Governor, Past Zone 59 Chair and Past President of the Belmopan City Lions Club Lionel “Ali” Kisling conducted the installation of the new Zone Chair. In handing over the gavel as a symbol of authority, Lion Kisling stated that the challenge of Zone 59 is huge and had no doubt that the Zone will improve even more under the new Chair.
In accepting the challenge of Zone 59 Chair of the Lions Clubs of country of Belize, Lion Graniel expressed gratitude for being considered to take the leadership of all Lions Club in the country. Lion Graniel stated that he will be supporting all Lions Clubs and in the same manner will be asking the cooperation of all the clubs to improve the Lionism spirit in Belize. In closing, Lion Graniel thanked and asked the country of Belize to continue supporting the Lion’s Clubs in their respective communities to improve the condition of needy people.
Present to witness the momentous occasion were members of the San Estevan Lions Club and their President Liborio Vega, members of the San Pedro Lions Club and President Melanie Paz, members of the Belize and Belmopan Cities Lions Clubs and family members of Lion Baldemar Graniel. The San Pedro Sun joins the San Pedro community and Belize in congratulating Lion “Don Baldi” on his new position.
