The Sixth International Sea & Air Festival - July 22-27, 1997
At the first meeting of the Sea & Air committee after the 1996 Sea & Air
Festival, committee members decided one of the most important things they
could do would be to set the dates for the 1997 sixth festival. The late
July date was chosen so as not to conflict with the San Joaquin Festival or
the early August religious festival in El Salvador. In addition, the July
dates should be at a time when mechanical games are available.
The committee also decided to get an early start on next year's festival
with the election of a new chairman (or chairpersons) scheduled to be held
within the next two weeks.
Identified priorities for 1997 were early commitments from entertainers
and sponsors along with sale of franchises.
The books for the 1996 festival are in the process of being finalized.
