The Miss Chiquitita pageant is held as a fundraiser for the San Pedro Pre School every year. This year, five little beauties participated with the hopes of capturing the tiara and the title of Miss Chiquitita 2015-2016. Shortly after 8PM on Saturday, May 30th, the event kicked off at the Honorable Louis Sylvester Sporting Arena (Saca Chispas). A dance presentation featuring Miss Chiquitita 2013-2015 and the contestants: Alieah Moreira, Adriana Briceño, Seydi Medrano, Killianie Sosa, and Iansy Gordon, opened the event, setting the bar high for a night of entertainment and grace.Miss Chiquitita 2015-16-13
The five judges would definitely have a challenge in deciding who would be the new Miss Chiquitita, as all the girls glowed on stage. Saskia Alejos, Victoria Meyer, Gonzalo Salinas, Ovel Leonardo, and Miss San Pedro Michelle Nuñez certainly had their hands full judging the girls on their poise, talent, and performance. After the introduction dance, each girl had the opportunity to introduce themselves to the audience, before leaving the stage and preparing for the swim suit segment. While they got ready the San Pedro Dance academy then took over the stage and performed Cuba Libre. The break San Pedro Jabowakees also delighted the crowd with their fantastic break dance moves.Miss Chiquitita 2015-16-16
But then it was back to the little darlings and their fun beach wear. They happily modeled colorful tropical beach outfits. Their smiles as they walked the stage, with colourful hats on and beach balls bouncing as they waved and the cheering crowd.Miss Chiquitita 2015-16-4
After the enthusiastic segment, it was time for the talent portion of the evening. Alieah came out first with her black and purple carnival, outfit dancing to a soca hit. Following her was Adriana, who delighted the crowd with her magnificent entrance portraying the tropical wealth of Belize in a booth that was wheeled to the stage. The little girls certainly showed major talent. Seydi gave a fabulous performance with the theme “Happiest Man Alive,” while Killianie did a grand presentation titled “My Home, My Beautiful Belize”. Iansy closed the spectacular segment with a performance on hope and bringing to light the actual abuses children are going through in Belize. There was certainly much to admire from each presentation.Miss Chiquitita 2015-16-23
Just before the highly anticipated evening gown segment, outgoing Miss Chiquitita Zillah Flota, representing a sea goddess made a spectacular entrance on an elevated platform. She performed an adorable dance called My Isla Bonita. Following this act, the five contestants took to the stage once more. They proudly walked out dressed in stunning gowns, waving happily at the audience. There were bursts of cheering from the different teams supporting their preferred contestants as they did their final walk on the stage. Local singer Jessica Flores, The San Pedro Dance and academy and Yaka’s Elite dancers entertained the audience during the intermission, while the judges finalized their scores and decision.Miss Chiquitita 2015-16-27
