Police-NewsOn Making Off Without Payment
33-year-old Gergorio Cobb, manager of Captain Morgan’s Retreat reported to the San Pedro Police Station that a man refused to pay for his stay in the establishment. According to Cobb, Simon Castillo checked into the hotel for a period of seven days commencing from Friday, August 8th and ending on Saturday, August 16th. The cost of the room was $200 per night plus 19%, amounting to a total value of $1,905. Castillo gave a credit card in his name. During his stay, Castillo ordered room service which amounted to $3,847.12. Castillo checked out of the resort without informing the front desk or paying the extra charges. Cobb has requested court action. Castillo has been officially arrested and charged.

Rape
San Pedro Police have charged 28-year-old Lorenzo Cardenas for having unlawful sexual intercourse with a female minor. According to police, the victim and her mother visited the San Pedro Police Station to report that on Saturday, August 16th Cardenas had sexually assaulted her daughter. The mother stated that at around 4:30PM she had sent her daughter home to get ready for a family event while she stayed back at a nearby store. Upon returning her to her house she found Cardenas laying down on her bed half naked. The complainant immediately chased him from her home. A medical examination was issued for the victim. Cardenas committed the crime of Unlawful Sexual Intercourse contrary to Section 47 (1) OF THE Criminal Code Chapter 101 of the Substantive Laws of Belize Revised Edition 2003 as amended by the Criminal Code (Amendment) (No. 2) Act, 2014 No. 12 of 2014. Cardenas was officially charged and remanded on Tuesday, August 19th.
Aggravated Assault
On Wednesday, August 13th at about 8:10AM, 24-year-old Feliciano Rosalez visited the San Pedro Police Station and reported that he had received a life threat. According to Rosalez on Tuesday, August 12th at about 7:30PM while socializing in front of a dock on Nurse Shark Street, he was approached by two men. One of the men pulled out a 9mm pistol at the complainant’s face and told him “I wa kill two a uno, u wa disappear from this island.” After which they left the area and boarded a skiff and escaped towards the San Pedrito Area. Rosalez has requested court action. Police have since arrested and charged 21-year-old Enrique Santoya and 19-year-old Kirian Espat for “Aggravate Assault” and “Use of Threatening Words”. Both men have since been remanded to the Belize Central Prison.
