On Tuesday, November 10th, two Police Constables (PC) attached to the San Pedro Police Department were honored as part of the reinstated Officer of the Month Award Program. The officers are PC 888 Arthur Anthony who took the award for the month of September 2015, and PC 1445 Epifanio Bol, officer of the month of October 2015. By offering the award, senior members of the department hope that all officers will strive to be more efficient and productive when serving the community.Officer of the Month Anthony Bol SPTGIA SPPD-1
In order to qualify for the Officer of the Month Award, an officer must adhere to a certain criteria: appearance and dress, most arrests, dedication, quality and reliability, no disciplinary conviction for that month or pending, and completed case files for the month. “The selection is done through a consultation with senior officers in the department. Every Monday we have a conference where we discuss the performance of all police officers,” said Officer in Charge of the Coastal Executive Unit, Superintendent Sandra Bodden.Officer of the Month Anthony Bol SPTGIA SPPD-3
Both PCs expressed their excitement toward receiving the award for their respective months. “I am aiming for the sky. I want to be more organized and excel in my work so as to be the best police that I can be,” said PC Anthony with pride. PC Anthony has been part of the Belize Police Department for 15 years and has proven to be very reliable and great leader. “PC Anthony was holding over a relief, which is normally the job of a Corporal or Sergeant. This shows a lot of responsibility in his behalf. He has the respect of other constables even though he is of their same rank. All these qualities say a lot about the person he is and that why we awarded him for the month of September. We see the potential in him,” said Bodden.Officer of the Month Anthony Bol SPTGIA SPPD-2
PC Bol, on the other hand hopes to win officer of the month again. “I feel very proud and motivated. This award is giving me the momentum to strive to be better. Hopefully I can win this award again. I am proud of my achievements and excited of the opportunities that this career has offered me.” Bodden also expressed high remarks for PC Bol. “PC Bol was also holding over a relief while his supervisor was away. He is very responsible and reliable. I have no problem in getting him to do the work. Often he goes above and beyond the call of duty,” said Bodden.
Both PC Anthony and Bol received a cash prize courtesy of the San Pedro Tour Guide Association as well as a round trip ticket to Belize City courtesy of Tropic Air. Bodden would like to extend the deepest gratitude to the San Pedro Tour Guide Association and Tropic Air for assisting with the prizes. “They graciously assisted us in this endeavor. We know that any little token given to the officers goes a long way in building their moral and self-confidence. The Officer of the Month Award program helps the San Pedro police officers stay motivated and get the job done.”
The San Pedro Sun congratulates both officers on an excellent job and encourages all other officers to follow in their footsteps.
