Continuity of Government

Belmopan, Monday, 6th February, 2012. The Office of the Prime Minister wishes to advise the general public that according to Section 84(6) of the Constitution of Belize, “During the period between the dissolution of the National Assembly and the appointment of a Prime Minister after a general election, the government of Belize shall continue to be administered by the Prime Minister and the other Ministers and Ministers of State of the Government.”

This means that even though the National Assembly has been dissolved, the Prime Minister and other Ministers of Government continue to exercise their respective powers until a new Government is constituted after the general election. (END)
