Northern Highschool Soft Ball Regionals on the Island: SPHS boy win champions title

The Ladyville Technical High School's female softball team and the San Pedro High School's male softball team have won the championship titles at the National Secondary School Sports Association (NSSSA) Northern Softball Regionals. The main event took place on Saturday, March 9th, at the Honorable Louis Sylvester Sporting Complex in Ambergris Caye.

San Pedro Volleyball Tournament Seniors head to semi-finals

The San Pedro Volleyball Association has been hosting an indoor volleyball tournament with the San Pedro Town Council Sport for the past few weeks. The tournament is held on weekends at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium, and the sixth week of games was played on Sunday, March 10th.

Long-time Island paddler Daniel Gregorio represents San Pedro at La Ruta Maya

The 27th Annual Belikin Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge took place this year, with 59 teams participating in the 180-mile race. The race started from the Hawksworth Bridge in San Ignacio, Cayo, and ended at the Civic in Belize City. On Monday, March 11th, the 2024 annual La Ruta Maya River Challenge announced Team "Slim and Trim like Guava Limb" as race winners. One of the members of Team Belize Coast Guard 1.5 (BCG) included Daniel Gregorio, a third-class Coast Guard petty officer and San Pedro resident, along with his teammates James Alford and Wilbert Daniels, who won third place in the competition.

Lady Jaguars score a tight 1-0 win over Motlow State Community College during friendly match

The Belize Senior Female National Football Team, known as the Lady Jaguars, won a friendly match against the team from Motlow State Community College in Tennessee, USA, on March 8th. The game was held at the Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro Town and ended 1-0 in favor of the Lady Jaguars.

2024 San Pedro Football Academy and Mundalito Tournament kicks off

On Sunday, March 3rd, the 2024 edition of the San Pedro Football Academy and Mundialito Tournament was launched at the Ambergris Stadium. The San Pedro Town Council Sports organized the sporting programs and was supported by Mayor Gualberto "Wally" Nunez and Councilor Adaly Guerrero Ayuso.

An exciting night of sports action at San Pedro’s Indoor Volleyball Tournament

The San Pedro Volleyball Association has hosted an indoor volleyball tournament with the San Pedro Town Council Sport for the past few weeks. Held on weekends at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium, the fifth week of games was played on Sunday, March 3rd. The season includes games between male and female primary school teams and matches between senior teams.

Team Cera Del Sol Wins First Place in 2024 Honduras International Billfish Open

A Belizean fishing team named "Cerca Del Sol" from San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, took first place in Honduras' International Billfish Open tournament. The event was from February 29th to March 2nd in Omoa, Honduras. The team, led by boat owner Russ Samples, Captain Charley Westby, along with Victor Hernandez, Kevin Barker, Emroy Nunez, and Charley Westy Jr., won a trophy and a cash prize of 433,986.00 lempiras (approximately $39k bz) by registering the highest score in the tournament.

The San Pedro Tiger Sharks overcome Griga Dream Ballers

The island’s premier basketball team, the San Pedro Tiger Sharks returned home victorious after defeating the EZ Investment Griga Dream Ballers 83-80.

San Pedro RC boys win Bishop’s Cup Belize Rural football championship

The San Pedro RC School boys advanced to the Belize District finals of the Bishop’s Cup football tournament by winning the Belize Rural championship, while the San Pedro RC girls won 3rd place in the rural eliminations at the Marion Jones Stadium in Belize City last Thursday, February 23.

San Pedro Tiger Sharks fall short in Week Five of the 2024 BEBL Tournament

In week five of the Belize Elite Basketball League (BEBL), the San Pedro Tiger Sharks are standing in third with one win and three losses. In the most recent match, the island team fell short by two points against the Cayo Western Ballaz on Sunday, February 25th. The game was held at the Belize City Civic Center, with tip-off starting shortly after 3PM.

San Pedro Junior College places 4th at ATLIB softball nationals

The San Pedro Junior College (SPJC) softball team represented the Central region and placed fourth at the Association of Tertiary Level Institutions of Belize (ATLIB) national softball championships hosted by Independence Junior College (IJC) at the 3D Softball Stadium in Independence on Saturday, February 24th.
