Who will be moving on to the third round of the Five-a-side Football Tournament?

Now in the second round of competition, the Island Citizen Sporting Club (ICSC) and San Pedro High School (SPHS) Five-a-side Football Tournament is starting to peak, as players are giving it their all to earn a win for their team. In the first leg of the second round, the 16 senior teams played their first match in the round-robin series. As previously mentioned there has not yet been an elimination in the female and little league division, but teams are still striving for points.5-a-side football tournament-3
Games for the week kicked off on Thursday, July 30th shortly after 8PM at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium. Spectators gathered in full force to cheer on their favorite teams. On opening the night were two friendly matches: San Pedro Belize Express, formerly Mecanicos FC, defeated Peace Makers FC in a 15 to 5 point game while Harmouch FC defeated Costa Warriors FC in an 8 to 5 point game. 5-a-side football tournament-1But the highlight of the night were the tournament matches. Sandy Point FC defeated Island Boys FC in a 4 to 2 point game. Scoring for Sandy Point FC were Jesus Castillo with two goals and Cesar Salazar with one goal. The next match also ended in a 4 to 2 point game with Island Pure FC defeating Goliath FC. Brandon Gonzalez, Adrian Chan, Ismael Figueroa and Harry Cruz were the scorers for Island Pure FC.5-a-side football tournament-4
Friday, August 31st also saw two friendly and two tournament matches. In the friendly, Castillo’s FC defeated Tropic Air FC in a 6 to 2 point game, while Tuff Strikers FC edged out Vince Warriors FC in a 6 to 5 point game. 5-a-side football tournament-2Playing tournament matches were Boca Bombers FC and Varela’s Boys FC. The game ended in a 4 to 1 win for Varela’s Boys FC, with Cleon Henry and Melvin Jones scoring one goal each, while George Varela got two goals. FC Green House defeated San Mateo FC in following game in a 4 to 2 point game. Scoring for the winning team were Jose Rodas and Jose Vasquez with one goal each, and Pedro Tzul with two goal.5-a-side football tournament-5
Saturday, August 1st saw only tournament matches and bleachers were filled with football fanatics. In the first match, Ernie’s Warriors FC defeated the Blue Ocean Sands Girls in a 5 to 2 point game. Barrier Reef Girls also won their match against Hyde Strikers FC in a 4 to 1 point game. In the senior’s division, Belize Pro Dive Center FC took on Star Island FC, while Raven’s FC took on Matachica FC. Belize Pro Dive Center FC claimed victory in their match in a 6 to 2 point game, while Raven’s FC was victorious in their match with a 5 to 4 point score.5-a-side football tournament-6
Six matches were played on Sunday, August 2nd including two under 10, two under 13 and two senior matches. In the under 10 category, FC Bayern Munich A defeated United FC 6 to 2, while FC Bayern Munich B defeated Manchester United FC 2 to 1. The under 13 category saw Barcelona FC drawing with Inter de Milan FC 2 to 2 and Lazio Castillo’s FC losing to Chelsea FC 1 to 9. In the senior’s matches, FC United drew 2 to 2 with Boca Jr. FC, while Los Catrachos FC defeated Costa Blue FC 8 to 2.5-a-side football tournament-7
The next round of games will take place from Thursday, August 6th to Sunday, August 9th. The schedule is as follows:
