BTB Donates Motorcycles To Tourism Police Unit (TPU)

Belize City, Belize – Wednesday, August 1st, 2012 – The Belize Tourism Board is proud to furnish the Tourism Police Unit (TPU) this week with three brand new motorcycles; two Honda CG125 Storm motorcycles and one Suzuki ZS125 motorcycle, to be utilized for effective policing within tourism destinations. With tourist arrivals to Belize on the rise, visitor safety has taken on even greater significance.

Kevin Gonzalez, Director of Destination Planning at the BTB stated that, “The donation is only a small token of appreciation for the support provided to the tourism industry by the Tourism Police Unit.” He also noted that the increased presence and visibility of  TPU patrols will create an added sense of visitor security in Placencia, Corozal and Belize City.

Receiving the motorcycle on behalf of the Tourism Police Unit was Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP Diana Hall, Officer Commanding the TPU. ASP Hall thanked the Belize Tourism Board for their generosity and for recognizing the limitations of resources. “The new motorcycles are definitely welcomed to assist in the efforts to effectively police and extend the scope of coverage. Visitor safety and security is very important; therefore we are always willing to assist the tourism industry to ensure that visitors have a memorable experience.
