Awareness campaign to minimize Persistent Organic Pollutants in Belize
In an effort to raise public awareness about the hazards of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), the Department of Environment (DOE) is finalizing a package of strategies along with the Basel Convention Regional Centre for Training and Technology (BCRC) in the Caribbean to educate people about these harmful chemicals.

San Pablo Catholic Church fully renovated
Catholics living south of San Pedro will be pleased to know that they have a refurbished church in the San Pablo Sub-division. The church building was last cared for in 2015 when it got a good cleaning and a new coat of paint inside the room of worship.

Nayobie Rivero to be crowned 2020 Miss Teen Mundial Belize during fashion show on November 30th
All is set for Nayobie’s Hope for Children Project’s annual fashion fundraiser to be held at Diamond Lodge in San Pedro Town on Saturday, November 30th. This year’s fashion show theme is “Painting of Hope” and is inspired by every dream and desire to make the world a brighter, better place.

Belize’s Jalyssa Arthurs wins Miss CentroAmerica 2019
For the first time a Belizean beauty ambassador, 19-year-old Jalyssa Arthurs has captured the title of Miss CentroAmerica. The beauty pageant, held on Monday, November 25th at the José De La Cruz Mena Theater in the city of León, Nicaragua, saw the participation of delegates from El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Honduras.

Belize U-18 Female Volleyball Team takes silver in Central America Volleyball Tournament
The national U-18 Female Volleyball team returned to Belize on Monday, November 25th as the sub-champions of the 13th edition of the Central American Female Volleyball Tournament held in Costa Rica November 19th - 23rd.
