San Pedro Town installs temporary health care center to treat flu and potential Coronavirus cases

The San Pedro Care Center counts with an isolation unit, a flu clinic, a pharmacy and a temporary isolation area. The aim at this facility is to stabilize the patient. If the situation escalates in severity, arrangements will be made to take the patient to Belize City.

Breach of Quarantine Emergency Measures

Despite the various warnings on the importance of strict adherence to the Quarantine Emergency Measures, persons are not adhering to these warnings. If Belize is to remain in front of this COVID 19 pandemic, we must adhere to all measures put in place. In particular individuals and businesses are not adhering to the Social Distance requirement.

BSI contributes to national COVID-19 relief efforts

Belize Sugar Industries Ltd. (BSI), a member of ASR Group, announces a contribution of BZ$250,000 to Belize’s national COVID-19 Relief. Burning of Household and Yard Garbage is Prohibited

The Department of the Environment (DOE) continues to receive reports of the burning of household and yard waste in both urban and rural areas. This prevalent and harmful practice continues to greatly reduce the air quality for residents and threatens life and property from fires, especially around this time of the year, due to the dry season.

The Judiciary of Belize – Response to COVID-19 Preventative Measures

In light of the Belize Press Office, Press Release dated March 26, 2020, the Judiciary is taking measures and implementing strategies to safeguard the health and safety of judicial officers, officers of the court, staff members, and the general public, while at the same time maintaining a functioning judicial system and access to justice.

Landlords asked not to vacate tenants during this crisis

Removing tenants during the COVID-19 crisis has been declared illegal and immoral by the government and tenants are advised not to get out of their rented homes, and to seek the assistance of the police.
