Sale of Liquefied Petroleum Gas
The Supplies Control Unit (SCU) of the Belize Bureau of Standards has received and confirmed reports of the sale of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) below the fixed controlled prices at several locations countrywide. The SCU hereby informs those partaking in this illegal activity to desist as they are contravening the Supplies Control (Prices) Regulations (Statutory Instrument No. 88 of 2020). Continued violations will result in penalties being pursued to the full extent of the law.

Medicines’ aid worth 127,000USD from India to Belize
India is providing medical aid to 27 countries in LAC region. These countries are: Belize, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, St. Kitts And Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent And The Grenadines, Suriname, Republic Of Trinidad And Tobago, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Guatemala, Ecuador, Bolivia, Cuba, Peru, Venezuela, and Republic of Paraguay. Each country has been gifted a package of Hydroxychloroquine, 14 essential drugs and covid-protective gear. The total value of the medical aid to Latin America and Caribbean region is Rs 160 million (2,139,000 USD).

Food and Drug Administration Issues Advisory on Hand Sanitizers
The Ministry of Health is aware that an advisory sent from the Director of Health Services to the Customs and Excise Department is in circulation on social media platforms. The internal correspondence is a notification of an alert issued by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on sanitizers contaminated with methanol. Methanol can be toxic when ingested or absorbed through the skin.
