PLB game between San Pedro Pirates and Verdes ends scoreless

On Sunday, August 28th, the island football team San Pedro Pirates traveled to San Ignacio Town in the Cayo District to face Team Verdes. This was the fifth week of the current Premier League of Belize (PLB) competition, and the island boys were looking for a win in this crucial home-away match. Despite their determination and hard play, the island squad could not land a win, and the game ended in a 0-0 draw.

San Pedro Lions Club installs new board and welcomes new members

The San Pedro Lions Club installed a New Board of Directors on Saturday, August 27th, at a Corona del Mar Hotel ceremony. The installation of the board also saw the welcoming of nine new members to the club. In this new term, the club looks forward to increasing its membership and working on new projects to benefit the island community.

Save the dates; 501 Fight Night I: Genesis coming to San Pedro in September

For the first time since the height of the pandemic, San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye will be the venue for a spectacular Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fight night dubbed 501 Fight Night I: Genesis. The event will take place on the patriotic anniversary of the Battle of St. George’s Caye on September 10th at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium. Doors will open at 5PM for a night of adrenaline with eight different fights.

Rotaract Club of Ambergris Caye holds fundraiser to help students and membership drive

On Saturday, August 27th members of the Rotaract Club of Ambergris Caye had booths at the Central Park to host a fundraiser which consisted of a garage sale along with a membership drive to try attracting new members. The initiative is to assist their back-to-school program in which they help needy primary school students with tuition expenses.

Gender Responsive Engagement Strategy & Action Plan for the Fisheries Department and CZMAI

The Government of Belize, through the Ministry of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation (MBECA) in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Representative for Jamaica, The Bahamas, Belize, and Belize's National Designated Authority to the Green Climate Fund (GCF), has organized a consultation for the Gender Responsive Engagement Strategy & Action Plan for the Fisheries Department and Coastal Zone Management Authority and Institute. The discussion is a deliverable of the GCF readiness project entitled, Enhancing Adaptation Planning and Increasing Climate Resilience in Belize's Coastal Zone and Fisheries Sector.

BDF to Receive Troop Lifting Vehicles and Office Equipment

On August 26, 2022, the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of National Defence and Border Security signed two contracts valuing BZ$3,005,328.16 for the purchase and delivery of 10 troop lifting vehicles and office equipment for use by the Belize Defence Force (BDF).
