San Pedro Town Council starts project to keep downtown streets clean

Councilors at the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) have started a project designed to keep the streets of downtown clean. The initiative will target Barrier Reef Drive, Pescador Drive, and Angel Coral Street. The plan is to thoroughly clean one of these main streets every Sunday to keep the commercial area of the island clean and attractive for residents and visitors.

Tropical Cyclone 15 Advisory: Number 1

The National Meteorological Service of Belize and the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) hereby inform the public that as at 4:00 p.m. (local time) Tropical Cyclone #15 (TC 15) was located over the Central Caribbean Sea near latitude 15.7N, longitude 73.6W or about 974 miles south of due east from Belize. TC 15 was moving to the west-northwest at 10 mph with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and minimum central pressure of 1005 mb.

Holiday Hotel brings back Belize’s biggest Halloween party

After a two-year hiatus, the San Pedro Holiday Hotel resumed its biggest annual Halloween celebration in San Pedro Town. Held on Saturday, October 29th, at its restaurant La San Pedrana, the anticipated event is considered the largest in the country, featuring islanders and visitors dressed in various creative costumes. The festivities saw several attendees walking away with fabulous prizes within different categories, starting from the craziest to the most creative outfit.

Climate Data and Information Gap Assessment and Action Plan for the Fisheries and Coastal Zone Sector of Belize

National MSME Roadshow ends in San Pedro with pop-up market

On Friday, October 28th, the National Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Roadshow ended with a pop-up market in San Pedro Town. The project created by Prime Minister Honourable Dr. John Briceño reached the central municipalities across the country and was geared toward supporting businesses under the MSME category. The pop-up market at Central Park in San Pedro brought several companies from the island and the mainland showcasing various Belizean products.

The cost of chicken to increase on Monday

The prices of poultry (chicken) and poultry products will experience an increase of 6.5% as of Monday, October 31st. The rise is due to the high prices of grains (corn and soybean) used in chicken feed on the market.

Islander Babee Lopez to participate in Miss World Belize pageant

On Saturday, October 29th, San Pedro's Babee Lopez will be gracing the Miss World Belize pageant stage in Belize City. The event will occur at the Ramada Princess Hotel, where six contestants will compete for the coveted prize of becoming Belize's next Miss World.
