SP Police Formation holds fundraiser to help comrade with medical bills

The San Pedro Police Formation came together on Friday, January 28th, and had a barbeque fundraiser to help their comrade Police Constable Christian Cohuo, with medical expenses. The fundraiser was deemed successful, but anyone who wants to donate can visit the police station on Pescador Drive at any time.

On January 26, 2023, the European Union together with the Ministry of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries officially inaugurated the new Laboratory Spaces for Histopathology and Toxicology at the Belize National Forensic Science Service (NFSS) and handed over state of the art scientific and medical equipment that will greatly enhance the NFSS capacity moving forward.

Deputy British High Commissioner meets with local authorities and stakeholders in San Pedro

On Friday, January 27th, the Deputy High Commissioner of the British High Commission in Belize, Kate Reynolds, held a meeting in San Pedro Town with key government representatives and private stakeholders. The gathering took place at Hope Haven community center, where Reynolds took the opportunity to introduce Graciela Peña, who is based in Cancun, Mexico, and will oversee consular services in Belize as British Honorary Consul. Reynolds added that the visit was also to thank island residents, local authorities, and stakeholders for their assistance to British nationals visiting the island.

Jasmine Hartin returns to court to face drug possession and common assault charges

Canadian national Jasmine Hartin was back at the San Pedro Magistrate Court on Thursday, January 26th, to answer charges of Possession of a Controlled Drug and Common Assault. The court session involved presentations by Hartin's legal team on the charge of Possession of a Controlled Drug after the Common Assault case was adjourned to March 8th. The presentations and submissions by Hartin's attorney Ronell Gonzalez regarding the drug charge, attempted to dispute the evidence from the prosecution. The session spanned for almost two hours before the matter was adjourned to March 15th by the Magistrate.
