San Pedro Lions Club welcomes new members during its 49th anniversary celebration
The San Pedro Lions Club welcomed seven new members during a swearing-in ceremony on Friday, October 25th. This event coincided with the club's 49th anniversary celebration, showcasing the impact of Lionism in San Pedro. Despite the inclement weather, the celebration drew a good crowd and featured inspiring speeches that highlighted the Lions' ongoing efforts and their commitment to Mission 1.5, which aims to increase global membership by 1.5 million by 2027.

Belize Delegation Attends IMF and World Bank 2024 Annual Meetings
The Hon. Christopher Coye, Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment, led the Belize delegation for the 2024 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) held in Washington, D.C. from October 21 to 26, 2024.

Another large development coming to Ambergris Caye
On Friday, October 11th, Black Iron Development Inc., a real estate investment firm focusing on acquiring and modernizing over 2,000 apartment units, large condominium complexes, and hundreds of single-family homes, announced the launch of its latest project, Platinum Beach. The development boasts electricity, internet, and a primary private road. Additionally, several beachfront resorts are located nearby. Lot sizes range from 5500 to 5800 square feet, approximately 1,000 feet to the east. The project's plans include a luxury hotel, a spa, and sixty buildings, all planned to be on waterfront lots. After the land purchase, the project began two years ago, in 2022, and is now effectively selling properties.

2025 Public and Bank Holiday Schedule Announced
On Monday, October 21st, the Government of Belize officially announced the public and bank holiday schedule for 2025. These holidays, as outlined in the First and Second Schedules of the Holidays Act (Chapter 289 of the Laws of Belize, Revised Edition 2011), will be observed on specific dates throughout the year 2025, in accordance with Section 3 of the Act.

Belize is quickly becoming one of the premier fishing destinations in Central America, especially for saltwater anglers looking for diverse fishing experiences. A recent study by Fish Booker, a well-known global platform for booking fishing trips, highlights Belize’s growing appeal in this area. The study analyzed 266 fishing locations outside the United States, using five key criteria based on data from over 40,000 fishing excursions conducted in the past year.

A long-time resident of San Pedro Town, Victor Murphy, expressed his satisfaction with the San Pedro Police Formation after they successfully helped him recover his stolen belongings.
