A morning fire in San Pedro leaves a dozen families homeless

A large fire in the early hours of Sunday, December 29th, south of San Pedro Town on Ambergris Caye, has displaced 12 families. The blaze destroyed two wooden structures and a metal-framed garage. Authorities are investigating the incident as a possible act of arson. As part of the investigation, a female suspect is currently in custody.

Suspected Case of New World Screwworm (Cochliomyia Hominivorax) Identified

The Belize Agricultural Health Authority (BAHA) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE) inform the public that a suspected case of New World Screwworm (NWS) is being investigated in the southwestern Toledo District. BAHA has dispatched technical teams to conduct the investigation, and the public will be advised of the progress.
