UB Dominates ATLIB National Football Championships with Double Victory
The Association of Tertiary Level Institutions (ATLIB) National Football Championships 2026 took place over two days, March 27th–28th, at Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro, featuring top tertiary-level teams from across Belize. The tournament included four men’s teams in a single-elimination format and three women’s teams in a round-robin competition. The University of Belize (UB) emerged as double champions, securing first place in both divisions.

Belize Lions Clubs Aim for 400+ Members by June
Lions Clubs across Belize aim for at least 400 members by June 2026 as part of a national effort to expand local service clubs and elevate Belize from a provisional region to a full Lions Clubs International district. The initiative involves volunteers, newly formed clubs, and community projects in areas such as San Pedro, Caye Caulker, and Sarteneja, coordinated under Zone 59.

SPTC opens applications for sargassum mitigation efforts
As sargassum continues to cover coastlines and threaten marine ecosystems on Ambergris Caye, the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) has implemented a formal approval process for mitigation measures, including sargassum corrals and heavy machinery. The initiative, launched on March 23rd, aims to control the increasing inflow of seaweed affecting beaches, tourism, and daily life on the island.
