Caribbean Tourism Leaders Gather in San Pedro for Sustainability Talks
San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, hosted the 2026 Caribbean Conference on Sustainable Tourism Development under the theme “Tourism in Full Color,” highlighting the integration of the blue, green, and orange economies into a sustainable development path. The conference, held from April 27th to 30th, welcomed more than 300 delegates from 29 countries.

Belize Showcases Sustainable Diving at Beyond Blue Summit
The Beyond Blue Dive Summit, officially titled Beyond Blue: Belize’s Great Dive for Sustainability, was held from April 22nd to 25th, 2026, in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye. Hosted at Sunset Caribe Resort, the four-day event brought together international media, content creators, dive professionals, and conservation advocates. Organized by the Belize Tourism Board (BTB), the summit featured guided dives at renowned sites such as the Great Blue Hole, Half Moon Caye Wall, the WIT Concrete Shipwreck, and the Hol Chan Marine Reserve. Participants explored Belize’s marine biodiversity while gaining insight into sustainable tourism practices.

San Pedro Preschool Festival of Arts Showcases Young Talent
The San Pedro Preschool Festival of Arts was held on Tuesday, April 28th, at 10AM at Sagebrush Church, bringing together preschool students, teachers, parents, adjudicators, and education officials for a morning of performances and recognition. The event was organized by the Belize District Education Center, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology (MoECST), the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH), and the Institute of Creative Arts. Estephany Pott served as Mistress of Ceremonies, and Dr. Odelia Caliz Kelly delivered opening remarks.

Free Culinary Training in San Pedro Celebrates 18 Graduates
San Pedro resident Shelley Arceo Huber hosted a graduation ceremony on April 25th, celebrating 18 students who completed a hands-on culinary training program. The course, which included school-aged participants from across San Pedro Town, was offered at no cost under the Mama Vilma’s Family Home NGO. The 12-week program was held at Huber’s The Barge Hut Restaurant in the Boca del Rio area.

Island League heads into semi-finals
The Island League Football Tournament advances to the semi-finals this weekend, with the first leg set for Saturday, May 2nd, at the Ambergris Stadium. Two exciting matchups are scheduled: Alaia FC takes on Sea Bulls FC at 7PM, followed by Shark Shooters FC vs. Joker FC.

Caye Caulker Crocodile Incident Prompts Safety Reminder
A Caye Caulker resident, American national Nicole Robinson, was transported to Belize Specialists Hospital after being bitten by a crocodile in the early hours of April 27th. The incident occurred around 3:30AM at a popular swimming area near the Split. Despite the encounter, environmental experts advise the public not to view crocodiles as a general threat.

Rotary Club Introduces Educator of the Year Award for San Pedro
The Rotary Club of Ambergris Caye has introduced its first-ever Educator of the Year Award for San Pedro Town, with the winner to be announced during International Teacher Appreciation Week in the first week of May. The award aims to recognize teachers who shape the island’s next generation and often go unnoticed, despite the time, effort, and personal resources they invest in their students.

Nine San Pedro women complete holistic massage training
On April 16th, the Holistic School of Massage & Spa Therapy celebrated the graduation of nine young women from San Pedro Town at La Divina Restaurant. The event marked the completion of a four-month training program designed to equip participants with professional skills for Belize’s growing wellness industry. The ceremony took place on the evening of Thursday, April 23rd, with graduates receiving certificates after completing a comprehensive curriculum.
