Representatives from Fishing Associations Meet with Minister of Blue Economy
Representatives from fishing associations across Belize convened in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, on Friday, June 26th, to meet with the Minister of Blue Economy and Marine Conservation, Honorable Andre Perez. President of the San Pedro Fishers Association, Jorge Aldana, led the meeting alongside fellow representatives at Perez's office, where they discussed several issues affecting the country's fishing industry. Perez said his ministry will review the matters raised and follow up with the associations represented at the meeting.

Demphra, La Factoria Headlines San Pedro’s Día de San Pedro Celebration
Hundreds of island residents and visitors gathered at Saca Chispas Field on Saturday, June 27th, as the San Pedro Town Council celebrated Día de San Pedro, the island's annual festival honoring its patron saint. The celebration combined cultural traditions with live entertainment, highlighted by the crowning of the new Queen of the Bay San Pedro and a headline performance by Panamanian recording artist Demphra of La Factoria.

Pre-School Graduations Mark Milestone for Young Island Students
As June comes to an end, graduation season continued with celebrations honoring pre-schoolers from Little Angels Pre-School and Brighter Tomorrow Pre-School. The young graduates proudly marched down the aisles to the traditional tune of Pomp and Circumstance as they celebrated the completion of their early childhood education.

Several Persons in Custody Following Double Homicide at Island Supermarket
Police in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, are actively investigating the double homicide that claimed the lives of security guard Daniel Jones and Lebanese businessman Yahya Mohamed Harmouch, locally known as David Harmouch, on Sunday night, June 28th. Following the fatal shooting at Island Supermarket, located north of San Pedro Town, police have detained several persons of interest. The business had recently reopened after being targeted in a burglary and arson incident in December 2025.

Belize Concludes 2026 CARICOM Disaster Relief Unit Training Programme
Belize concluded the 2026 CARICOM Disaster Relief Unit (CDRU) National Training Programme with a closing and certification ceremony recognizing more than forty emergency response personnel who completed the intensive week-long training.
