Belize and Japan Formalize Donation of Seven Fire Trucks to Strengthen National Fire Response

The Government of Belize, through the Ministry of the Public Service, Disaster Risk Management and Enterprise, and the Embassy of Japan, formalized a significant partnership that will see the donation of seven fire trucks to the Belize National Fire Service.

501 Run Club promotes healthy living with annual 5K Glow Run

More than 50 participants of all ages joined the annual 5K Glow Run in San Pedro Town on Friday, October 2nd. Organized by the community-based 501 Run Club, the event brought together the island’s running community for an evening promoting health and fitness. Every runner who completed the race was recognized, while the top three finishers in the male and female categories received awards.

San Pedro Town Council awards sports scholarships to four students

The San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) Sports Program announced four school scholarship recipients on September 28th, recognizing young athletes for their participation in local sports while supporting their education. The recipients are Khobe Miller and Gibbson Callvio of Holy Cross Anglican Primary School, and Daniel Caliz and Kelvin Almendarez of San Pedro High School.

Free wheelchairs to be distributed in San Pedro in December

The Wheelchair Foundation will return to Belize in December to distribute free wheelchairs to people who need them. With assistance from the Rotary Club of Ambergris Caye, a distribution is planned for San Pedro Town on December 7th.

Criminal Law Training Aims to Strengthen Belize’s Justice System

The Senior Courts of Belize, through its Judicial Education Institute (JEI), will launch a Criminal Law Practitioners Program on Friday, October 2nd. The initiative is designed to strengthen the knowledge and practical skills of professionals working across the country’s criminal justice system.

Caye Caulker and San Pedro Police Receive Vehicles to Support Patrols

Police formations in Caye Caulker and San Pedro received vehicles from the Government of Belize on Tuesday, September 29th, to strengthen patrols and meet transportation needs on both islands. The Caye Caulker Police Sub-Formation received two vehicles, a green Polaris and a green Club Car golf cart, during a handover ceremony on the island. San Pedro police also received a Polaris that day.
