On Friday, August 7th, the fourth week of the Legends Over 35 Football Tournament featured two intense matches between United FC, E & L FC, Caye Caulker Seasoned Strikers, and Old Boys.
The first match kicked off at 7PM between United FC and E & L FC. United FC started strong, but E & L held a 2-1 advantage at halftime. In the second half, United FC stepped up its offensive play and eventually found the equalizer. E & L continued searching for a third goal, but United FC successfully blocked their attempts. At the final whistle, the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
The second match of the evening saw a hard-fought clash between Caye Caulker Seasoned Strikers and Old Boys. The first half remained goalless, although both teams made several attempts to open the scoring. Both sides came close to taking the lead but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities.
Much of the second half also remained goalless. Caye Caulker continued applying pressure in search of the opening goal, while Old Boys pushed back with several attempts of their own. Both defensive lines held firm, keeping the match scoreless as time ran down.
The only goal came minutes before the end of the match when Old Boys capitalized on an opportunity and found the back of the net to secure the victory. With the 1-0-win, Old Boys continue to lead the tournament standings with nine points.
E & L FC sits in second place with four points, while United FC follows in third, also with four points. The tournament’s leading scorer is Old Boys’ Oliver Hendrick with five goals, followed by United FC’s Emroy Nuñez with three. San Mateo FC’s Jamal Tillet and Caye Caulker’s Hugo Castillo have each scored two goals.
The tournament continues Friday, August 14th, at the Ambergris Stadium, starting at 7PM. Caye Caulker Seasoned Strikers will take on United FC in the first match, followed by San Mateo FC against E & L FC.
