Argentina U7 and Portugal U13 Capture 2026 Mundialito Titles

The Mundialito finals brought young football players, families, and supporters together at the Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro on August 16th. The tournament featured Under-7 and Under-13 matches, with the first game kicking off at 5PM. The event also marked the football academy’s fifth anniversary.
In the Under-7 category, Brazil defeated Spain 1–0 in the third-place match, with Steven scoring the winning goal. Argentina then defeated Portugal 4–0 in the Under-7 final to claim the championship title. Argentina’s Kian received the Most Goals award, while Aza was named Best Female Player. Argentina finished first, followed by Portugal, Brazil, and Spain.

In the Under-13 third-place match, Canada defeated Argentina 1–0. In the championship match, Portugal and Spain remained tied after regulation time, sending the game into extra time and eventually a penalty shootout. Portugal prevailed 4–3 on penalties to claim the title. Spain finished second, followed by Canada in third and Argentina in fourth. Individual Under-13 awards went to Miriany of Argentina for Best Female Player, Owen of Spain for Most Improved Player, Weneses of Argentina for Most Goals, Kris of Portugal for Best Goalkeeper, and Odesie of Portugal for Most Valuable Player.

Addressing players and attendees, Mayor Gualberto Nuñez said the event reflected the importance of teamwork and participation. He emphasized that all the children were winners, regardless of where their teams finished in the tournament.
Deputy Mayor Adaly Ayuso also recognized the academy’s five-year journey and thanked the parents, coaches, sponsors, and community members who have supported the program. Anniversary remarks highlighted the academy’s original goal of providing children with a place to learn football, build friendships, remain active, and enjoy the sport.

Appreciation was also extended to parents for bringing their children to training sessions and games, coaches for their patience and dedication, and sponsors whose support has helped create opportunities for young players. The academy also recognized Mayor Nuñez for his continued support of youth sports and community development.

 

The finals highlighted the academy’s growth and the continued interest in youth football on the island. Organizers credited the program’s achievements to the cooperation of families, coaches, sponsors, and community leaders. As the Mundialito marks its fifth year, the academy plans to continue developing young players while promoting discipline, friendship, teamwork, and community involvement.
