On Friday, August 21st, at approximately 10:30AM, San Pedro Police carried out a drug-related operation that resulted in the arrest and charging of three San Mateo residents. Police initially stopped 26-year-old Horace Anthony Crawford in the Boca del Rio area and, following a search, reportedly found several small bags containing a green leafy substance suspected to be cannabis. Crawford and two others, 26-year-old Benedicto Bol and 25-year-old Bridgett Juliana Alcoser, were subsequently charged with possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply.
According to reports, members of the San Pedro Operations Team were conducting official duties in the Boca del Rio area when they detained Crawford and requested to search him for drugs, firearms, and ammunition. During the search, officers reportedly found eight small transparent bags containing suspected cannabis in his pants pocket.
Crawford reportedly consented to a search of his residence, leading officers to a two-story house in the San Mateo area. During a search of the upper flat, police encountered and detained two additional individuals. The search reportedly led to the discovery of 1,312 grams of suspected cannabis, 21 grams of suspected cocaine, and 28 grams of suspected crack cocaine. Police also reported finding a large amount of Belize currency. The suspected drugs, money, and other items were taken as evidence, while the three individuals were detained and later charged.
A San Mateo resident, speaking on condition of anonymity, said residents welcome law enforcement efforts but would also like to see additional measures focused on prevention and support services. “We need both enforcement and programs that address why people get involved in dealing with drugs and try to find a way to prevent the young ones from getting involved at all,” the resident said.
The seizure and arrests form part of ongoing policing efforts in San Pedro aimed at targeting suspected drug activity and other criminal offenses.
