Faith Edgar Makes History at Miss World 2026

Miss World Belize Faith Edgar made history at the 73rd Miss World Pageant, held on September 5th in Nha Trang, Vietnam. Edgar secured a place in the Top 40 after winning the “Beauty with a Purpose” challenge for the Americas and Caribbean region.
Edgar earned regional recognition for her “Smiles for Belize” initiative, which aims to improve access to dental care and oral health education in communities across the country. Her success made her the second representative from Belize to place at Miss World.
Edgar described the achievement as a significant moment for Belize and reflected on how her passion for dentistry has grown over the past five years.
“Five years ago, I fell into the field of dentistry almost unexpectedly,” she said. “Today, I am studying to make it my profession, and for the last two years, I have been building Smiles for Belize, not knowing where it would take me but knowing that the need was there.”
Through the initiative, Edgar has worked to bring dental services, supplies, and education to communities across Belize. Her activities have included fluoride clinics at ten schools, participation in mobile dental clinics, the distribution of dental health kits, and food drives designed to help families understand the connection between oral health and overall well-being.
“This is the reason we brought fluoride clinics to ten schools, joined mobile dental clinics to reach communities where they are, distributed dental health kits, and organized food drives,” she said.
Edgar shared that the Smiles for Belize project has humbled her and strengthened her commitment to pursuing a career in dentistry. Her official Miss World profile states that she is studying dentistry to become a periodontal specialist.
The Miss World organization had previously highlighted Edgar’s continued work to bring healthy smiles to communities across Belize. Her regional “Beauty with a Purpose” victory secured her place among the Top 40 contestants during the international competition.
This is the second time a Belizean representative has placed at Miss World. In March 2024, Elise-Gayonne Vernon became the first delegate from Belize to place in the competition when she reached the Top 40 at the 71st Miss World Pageant in Mumbai, India.
At the conclusion of this year’s pageant, Joheirry Mola of the Dominican Republic was crowned Miss World 2026, succeeding Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand. Elisabeth Reynés of Spain finished as the first runner-up, while Taanusiya Chetty of Malaysia was named second runner-up.
The competition featured contestants from 111 countries. Activities began on August 9 and included several fast-track events across Vietnam ahead of the grand finale.
Although Edgar did not advance beyond the Top 40, her achievement placed Belize and her Smiles for Belize initiative on the international stage. Her performance also marked a proud moment for San Pedro, where residents, family members, and supporters had rallied behind her journey to the pageant.
Edgar is expected to return to Belize in the coming days, with members of her island community preparing to welcome her home and celebrate her historic accomplishment.
