The Over 35 Cup continued with another round of games at the Ambergris Stadium, with Old Boys and United FC emerging victorious after commanding performances against their opponents.
The games took place on September 17th, with the first match featuring United FC against E & L. In the first half, E & L pressured United FC, attacking their defense and failing to open the scoring. United FC also created several opportunities, eventually finding the back of the net just minutes before halftime to take a 1-0 lead.
United FC doubled their advantage just minutes into the second half. E & L tried to counterattack but struggled to break through United’s defense. Meanwhile, United FC continued with an aggressive game plan and controlled much of the match. E & L’s attempts either went wide of the goal or were stopped by United’s defense and goalkeeper.
As the game continued, United FC scored a third goal, putting E & L under further pressure. United remained on the offensive in search of another goal, but it never came. Just minutes before the end of the match, E & L found an opportunity and scored their lone goal. At the final whistle, United FC celebrated a convincing 3-1 victory.
In the second game of the evening, Team Caye Caulker took on Old Boys. During the first half, Old Boys, one of the tournament’s stronger teams, pressured the visiting side but could not find the back of the net. Both teams battled for control, but the score remained goalless at halftime.
Old Boys quickly changed the pace of the game in the second half, opening the scoring within the first few minutes. A short while later, they struck again to take a 2-0 lead. Caye Caulker continued pushing in hopes of mounting a comeback, but Old Boys remained in control and eventually sealed the match with a third goal.
At the final whistle, Old Boys walked away with a solid 3-0 victory over Caye Caulker.
