Pampered Paws celebrated 25 years of caring for pets in San Pedro Town with giveaways for customers and a special recognition for its first client. Founder Katia Marin marked the anniversary of the business, which opened on September 24, 2001, by thanking the customers and staff who have supported it over the years.
Marin awarded Karen Waight Canul one year of free grooming in recognition of her loyalty as Pampered Paws’ first customer. She also recalled another early supporter, her friend Fiona Elliott, and said she still has the $5 bill Elliott gave her for the business’s first purchase.
“I feel so lucky and grateful to do what I love,” Marin said. Since opening Pampered Paws, she has expanded its services to include dog walking, daycare, and boarding. She became a certified dog trainer in 2003.
Anniversary giveaways continued through September 26. Nicole Lopez won one year of monthly grooming for her dog, Bella, while Gail Neal won a package of ten half-days of daycare for Sadie. Sherri Hansen won a training session with Marin for Molly, and Tamara Sniffin received a package of six power-walks for Mocha.
Customers from Caye Caulker were also among the winners. Zenaida Patt won a full groom for her dog, Cloe, while Shanna received a bath package for Harley.
Marin and her staff thanked the San Pedro community for its continued support. They also acknowledged customers who travel from elsewhere in Belize, including Caye Caulker, Placencia, Belmopan, Belize City, and the Cayo and Corozal districts.
“I am so looking forward to many more years,” Marin said. “I must admit, I do this work because of the LOVE I have for dogs. They have made me into a better person and made me some of the best friends through my work with them. Dogs are truly unconditional love. Thank you again for the best 25 years of my career.”
