Free Corrective Surgery Screenings Set for October 9th

Share

Children and adults who may require corrective surgery are encouraged to attend free screenings on Friday, October 9th, at the Dr. Otto Rodriguez San Pedro Polyclinic II and Corozal Polyclinic II, also known as Corozal Community Hospital.
The Ministry of Health and Wellness, Partners for Medical Relief, the Central Health Region, and Corozal District Health Services are organizing the initiative through a joint effort. The screenings and consultations will help identify potential patients and assess the treatment they may need.
The medical mission will focus on cleft lip, ear, nose, and throat conditions, scar revision, ear tube placement, mole removal, tonsil removal, facial deformities, and a deviated septum. The initiative is offering children and adults born with cleft lip or other facial conditions services free of charge.
Residents with qualifying conditions are encouraged to attend a screening to determine their eligibility for treatment. During the consultation, medical professionals will assess each patient’s condition and recommend the appropriate next steps. The screening is the first step in identifying patients who may benefit from corrective surgery.
Promoted under the message “Changing Lives, Restoring Hope,” the initiative aims to expand access to specialized treatment for people with facial and related medical conditions. It follows previous outreach efforts in which medical teams and local health authorities worked together to provide specialized care.
For San Pedro residents, the October 9th screening offers an opportunity to access an initial assessment at the local polyclinic. A separate screening location in Corozal will serve residents seeking services there. Individuals interested in participating can contact the organizers or their facility for details about screening arrangements and available services.
For more information, residents can contact Partners for Medical Relief at +1 (513) 550-0320. Those planning to attend in Corozal can call 480-2076, while those seeking screenings in San Pedro can contact the Dr. Otto Rodriguez San Pedro Polyclinic II at 280-2536.
