Miss World Belize 2025 Faith Edgar announced on Friday, October 9th, that she will seek a councilor seat on the People’s United Party (PUP) slate for the San Pedro Town Council in the upcoming municipal elections. Edgar joins fellow newly announced candidates Steve Bowen and Gil Nuñez on the team led by Mayor Gualberto “Wally” Nuñez.
Her announcement marks a move from national and international pageantry toward local public service in her hometown. As Miss World Belize, Edgar has promoted dental health awareness through her Beauty With a Purpose project, Smiles4Belize. She said her community work and personal growth over the past decade have strengthened her desire to serve San Pedro.
In announcing her candidacy, Edgar said her decision continues her commitment to the island and its residents. “But through it all, one thing has remained constant: my love for this island and the people who call it home,” she said.
Edgar also reflected on the importance of giving back to the community. “Because for me, this journey has always been about what I could give back,” she stated. Addressing residents, she added, “San Pedro, this island has been the beginning of so much for me. Now, I’m ready to give even more of myself to it.”

Edgar, Bowen, and Gil Nuñez are expected to replace outgoing councilors Dianeli Aranda, Jose Castellanos, and Ernesto Bardalez on the PUP slate. Marina Kay, Adaly Ayuso, and Johnnia Duarte remain part of the team.
The proposed slate brings together three new councilor candidates and three returning members under Wally Nuñez’s leadership. Edgar’s candidacy remains subject to confirmation when the PUP finalizes its San Pedro slate.
Her announcement outlined her reasons for seeking office, emphasizing her connection to San Pedro and her interest in expanding her community service. Details of her proposed council platform were not included in the announcement.
