At a virtual press conference on Wednesday, July 29th, Prime Minister Right Honourable Dean Barrow spoke of the upcoming General Elections, indicating that they will take place by the end of the first week in November.Â
Barrow ruled out any possibility of an early election, as his administration’s ongoing works combating the current COVID-19 pandemic continues. He explained that a lot of preparations needs to happen before the elections, which involves hiring more personnel. Barrow pointed out that the focus at the moment is secure resources (funding) to provide support to social programs and the agriculture sector in an effort to secure a reliable food source.Â
The last General Elections were held on November 4, 2015, where the ruling United Democratic Party won its third consecutive term in office.
