Islanders’ welcome changes in COVID-19 regulations; booster shots available for those ages 18 and older

The Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) made two announcements on Wednesday, November 10th, regarding the COVID-19 health regulations and vaccinations. MOHW’s Minister, Honourable Michel Chebat, stated that starting November 22nd, the curfew will change to 10 PM-4 AM on Sundays through Thursdays. On Fridays and Saturdays, the curfew will be 11 PM – 4 AM. Chebat also said that COVID-19 vaccine boosters are now available for anyone 18 years of age and older. Stakeholders in San Pedro Town welcome the amendments aimed at benefiting the upcoming high tourism season.

PM Briceño moves to build the economy with the Belize Investment Summit

On Wednesday, November 10th,  Prime Minister Honourable John Briceño launched the first Belize Investment Summit at a ceremony held at Grand Caribe Belize in northern Ambergris Caye. The summit, which ends on the following day, included opening remarks from former Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Prime Minister Briceño and other members of parliament, the Leader of the Opposition, dignitaries, business partners, and special guests.

COVID-19 regulations continue to restrict Publican’s Special liquor licenses

Another year is winding down, and stakeholders in San Pedro Town are again renewing trade licenses, permits, and liquor licenses. Most liquor licenses are renewable, such as Restaurant, Beer, Malt, Publican's General, and Shop. However, the Publican's Special is not yet available due to the current Statutory Instrument (SI) No. 136 of the COVID-19 regulations. This license applies to bars, which are not permitted to open under the current SI.

Traffic restrictions on the north road to accommodate Belize Investment Summit

The traffic north of Sir Barry Bowen Bridge and White Sands Cove Resort will see tight restrictions starting tomorrow, Wednesday, November 10th, and Thursday the 11th due to the Belize Investment Summit at Grand Caribe Belize. Traffic will be diverted during these two days, and large trucks are restricted on the northern road.
