According to the report, the Council's financial position improved significantly during the year, ending with a surplus of BZD $8.66 million and total net assets of BZD $36.97 million.

Vendors Call for More Promotion of New Artisan Market
The new artisan market in the Embarcadero area hosted its first night market event on June 18th, signaling to the community that the venue is now fully open for business. While some artisans from the former market along Angel Coral Street, across from the Honorable Louis Sylvestre Sporting Complex, have relocated to the new facility, several vendors say stronger promotion is needed to attract customers. Belize Assumes CDB Leadership Role and Lands Major Climate Investment
On June 5th, Belize officially assumed the Chairmanship of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) Board of Governors and secured $20.2 million in climate resilience funding. The handover took place during the closing ceremony of the 56th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors in Nassau, Bahamas. Dr. Osmond Martinez, Minister of State for Economic Transformation and Belize’s Alternate Governor to the CDB, accepted the Chairmanship on behalf of Prime Minister John Briceño.

International Airport Project Moves Forward for Ambergris Caye
Several major projects are in the pipeline for northern Ambergris Caye, including three new schools and an international airport. Construction of the schools is expected to begin this year, while plans for the new airport have reportedly been approved.
