Belize Bank and American Express formalize partnership in Belize

On Wednesday, January 18th, the Belize Bank Limited, and American Express partnership was made official at an event celebrated at the Alaia Hotel south of San Pedro Town. The agreement now allows American Express cardholders to process transactions in Belize following a contract with Belize Bank.

Alteration of Import Duties on Condensed Milk Imported into CARICOM

The Government of Belize hereby informs the public and the business community that, as of January 1, 2023, the import duty on condensed milk imported into CARICOM from all non-CARICOM sources was increased to 30%. San Pedro stakeholders not happy with regulations on alcohol sales and business operations during the Christmas weekend

On Thursday, December 22nd, a couple of stakeholders in San Pedro Town voiced their dissatisfaction with the current set of regulations regarding the sale of alcohol and opening hours for different establishments over the Christmas weekend. The regulations set by the Belize Police Department are said to be unfair, and the stakeholders on the island say they will be significantly affected due to restrictions requiring businesses to close by midnight.

Belize Police Department issues regulations on the sale of alcohol during Christmas holidays

The Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, said on Wednesday, December 21st, that during the mentioned periods, as highlighted below, no liquor should be exposed for sale, sold, consumed, or delivered on such premises during the period when they are required to be closed. ComPol stressed that no persons other than the license holders or the employees should be on the licensed premises. In addition, no liquor should be sold in a restaurant except to a customer buying a full meal and consuming an alcoholic beverage with it.

Living Word Church’s Annual Christmas Toy Drive receives $100,000 donation

The annual Living Word Church Toy Drive will see the gifting of 150 hefty food baskets, 500 small toys during Christmas Caroling on Thursday, December 22nd, and 1,200 quality toys during the Toy Outreach on December 23rd.
