Five teams secure champions title at the end of the Indoor Volleyball Tournament

On Sunday, April 14th, the biggest indoor volleyball tournament event of 2024 came to an exciting end at the Angel Nunez Auditorium. The tournament finals were a huge success, featuring plenty of food, drinks, music, and marching band entertainment, making it a memorable experience for everyone. By the night's end, the champions for the different categories in the volleyball tournament were awarded for their hard work and great sportsmanship.

San Pedro RC boys win Bishop’s Cup district football championship

The San Pedro Roman Catholic School boys won the Bishop's Cup - Belize district football championship in the tournament organized by the Roman Catholic Schools management and the National Sports Council at the Marion Jones Stadium last Friday, April 12th.

Porto Bahia Football Club wins Copa Caribe

The San Pedro Town Council hosted the Copa Caribe tournament from Friday, April 12th to Sunday, April 14th, at the Ambergris Stadium. The football tournament saw local and international teams competing for the prized championship trophy. The opening ceremony included music, food, drinks, and football action on the first day. It was organized by the San Pedro Town Council Sports, Mayor Gualberto "Wally" Nunez, and Councilor Adaly Guerrero Ayuso to promote regional sportsmanship with the countries of Mexico and Guatemala.

Boxing night in San Pedro features Belizean and Mexican fighters

The Angel Nuñez Auditorium at the San Pedro High School was the venue of an electrifying boxing event on Saturday, April 13th, featuring three big fights. Dubbed ‘Clash at the Beach,’ the main event of the evening was the fight for the World Boxing Council (WBC) Continental Latin American Atomweight championship between female boxers. Other boxing titles up for grabs included the Lightweight and Featherweight championships.

Calling all football fans: The Island Football League starts 2024 season

The Island Football League (IFL) has returned with 12 teams competing for the championship. The first week of matches concluded with six top football clubs leading in the league's standings. These teams include Shark Shooters FC, Terror Squad FC, Conquerors FC, Sea Bulls FC, G Strikers FC, and Joker Futbol Club. The other teams in the competition, namely Black Sails FC, SPHS FC, Alaia FC, Sharks FC, Vince Assassins FC, and Ambergris Hope FC, have yet to secure a win.

With an 88-73 blowout against Benny’s Belize Hurricanes, San Pedro Tiger Sharks continue making their island and community proud. On Saturday, March 16th, the island basketball team won their match at the Belize Civic Center in Belize City. The gate opened at 7PM, and the game started at 9PM as eager fans cheered on their favorite team.

Mary Gonzalez is two-time National Women’s Powerlifting Champion

San Pedro’s Mary Gonzalez won first place in the female division of the 4th Annual Belize Powerlifting Association’s National Championship, held at the St. Johns College Gymnasium Campus in Belize City. The two-day tournament saw the women’s competition on Saturday, March 16th, and the men’s competition on Sunday, March 17th. Organized by the Belize Powerlifting Association (BPA), the event saw 14 women and 22 men participate in the ultimate test of strength.
