Press Release – Dr. Chris Bennett – November 29, 2011 – At a Ceremony held on Tuesday, 29th November, at the Lions Club Building in Belize City, the Book “My Reflections on Dentistry in Belize”, written by Dr. Chris Bennett, Dental Surgeon, was launched. The Main Address was given by Dr. Peter Allen, CEO in the Ministry of Health and the Welcome was given by Dr. John Waight, Surgeon Specialist.
Dr. Chris Bennett is a former Chief Dental Officer and worked for the Government of Belize for 25 years, before entering his full time private dental practice. The Book deals with the culture and attitudes towards Dentistry and Dental Treatment in Belize. A variety of topics are highlighted in the Book and include the Fear of the Dentist, the Mennonites and Dentistry in Belize, some eating habits in Belize which affect Dental health, Dental Folklores in Belize, Dental Tourism, etc. Throughout the book, many personal encounters are related and individuals are named.
Dr. Bennett is quoted as saying “ My Reflections of Dentistry in Belize” should be of interest not only to Dentists and Historians, but is also of interest to the general public. The reason for this is that besides promoting some practical aspects of Dental Health Education and Dental Disease Prevention, the Book shows that great results can be obtained when group efforts are applied towards a common goal. And most importantly, there is the demonstration of the profound impact and transformation which can be achieved when attitudes are changed”. Belize has witnessed the creation of a more positive attitude towards Dentistry and Dental Treatment.
The Book is on sale at Dr. Bennett’s Dental Clinic at Newtown Barracks in Belize City.
