Sailing Club News: Cart Wash!!

Share

The young sailors in the San Pedro Sailing Club are holding a cart wash to raise money so that they can go to St George’s Caye in September and race in the Battle Regatta.

Caye Caulker Regatta demonstrationFrom 9:00 am to 4:00 on Saturday, August 17, the sailors will be washing carts at Caribbean Villas, where advanced tickets are now on sale. The sailors themselves will be around town selling advance tickets for $10,00. Without a ticket, the cost for the wash will be $12.00. Customers with advance tickets will be served one free rum punch at the Catamaran Beach Bar while waiting, and they will receive a free Sailing Club Calendar (2013) signed by the sailors.

The sailors take this occasion to profusely thank the captain of the Serious Adventures boat who so patiently took all the time necessary last Sunday to help two of our junior sailors who had capsized in 18-knot winds. He spent the better part of at least a half hour getting them sorted out. He’s a good samaritan. Serious Adventures can be proud that he is part of their team.

SP Lobster Fest Regatta GroupAlso, the minutes of the most recent weekly meeting of the Belize Sailing Association include the following words of appreciation: The Demonstration Regatta at Caye Caulker (Saturday, August 3) was highly successful…. much to the credit of the SPSC. The enthusiasm of the sailors was infectious and possibly spawned a new club with pledges for five boats.

Way to go young skippers!
