Candyland Fashion Show raises funds for Boxes of Joy
Friday, December 19th, 2014
On Thursday December 11th, Boxes of Joy hosted their second annual Kids Fashion Show benefit at Carlo and Ernie’s Runway Bar. The Candyland- themed show, organized by Shantelle Pascasio and Francisco Mendez, saw the participation of 45 young models who all graced the runway to benefit the 3rd annual Christmas toy drive.
The venue quickly filled with parents, guardians and friends who came out to support their little models. The bar and snack stations remained packed as attendees enjoyed cold drinks and food throughout the night. As the show opened, hostess for the night Miss San Pedro Michelle Nuñez, accompanied by junior emcees Nayobie Rivero and Gaven Zapata , welcomed all present and got the event underway.
The opening act of the night was a short theatrical performance that lit up the stage in a most befitting way. It depicted a child’s joy as she receives holiday cheer from Christmas time presents. This rolled smoothly into the four segments of the night, Christmas Eve attire, Red and White, Glitz and Glam, Boy Toys and the highlight of the night, Candy Girls. The vibrant models impressed onlookers as they displayed confidence and poise when modelling clothes from boutiques and stores such as Wings, Divas and Dudes, Love Belize and Lynn’s Boutique, and of course original pieces in the Candy Girls segment by Gabriel’s Magix of Orange Walk.
Even with minor setbacks from a light rain shower, the colourful show and cute models managed to wow their guests. Moms and dads present at the show had a chance to show off their modelling skills as well when they strutted the runway for a chance at fabulous gift prizes. By the end of the show, applause rolled on as the 45 tiny tots, teen girls and boys graced the runway for one final time. Organizer Shantelle Pascasio was accompanied on stage by Francisco Mendez where they made their final remarks for the night. They thanked the parents and models for making the show possible, the Boxes of Joy volunteer committee and of course the event sponsors.
Proceeds from the show along with donations will be directly used to purchase Christmas presents for children in need. Boxes of Joy thanks all who were able to come out and support the event.
