Wearing their finest all-white ensembles, guests made their way to the Great House at Mahogany Bay Village, Curio Collection by Hilton, where a night of fundraising for the Inspiration Center took place. Despite a call for rain, the Saturday, June 18th night was clear and perfect, just right for a night of honoring some of Belize’s most vulnerable, our children. Funds are needed to sustain the outpatient rehabilitation center in Belize City, which aids children with disabilities from all over the country, including Ambergris Caye.

Kim Simplis Barrow, Special Envoy for Women and Children and wife of Belize’s Prime Minister Dean Barrow, warmly welcomed everyone, detailing the work done at the Inspiration Center to help our disabled children. After a few remarks by Beth Clifford, President of Mahogany Bay Management, Ltd., the evening was opened for some fun.

While the bar provided refreshing drinks, the kitchens of Victoria House, Rojo Beach Bar, Ambergreens Organic Aquaponics, Taco Shack, BelCampo, El Fogon, The Farmhouse Deli, Lino’s Meat Shop, Mahogany Bay Village, Pineapples on the Beach, and Elvi’s Kitchen served delicious food. The Tequila Shooters band provided great live music, and during breaks, talented DJ Dzl spun tunes to keep the dance floor filled till the wee hours of the morning.

There were silent auctions up for bidding, and thanks to the generous attendees, many were bid to full value. Cash donations were plentiful, and at the end of the evening, after the final tally, over $100,000 was raised for The Inspiration Center. The non-profit organization joins its little patients in thanking all the hard-working volunteers, sponsors and everyone who attended for their contributions.
Mahogany Bay and The Inspiration Center are looking forward to making this an annual event.
