Share

A special fundraising event titled ‘A Starry Night,’ in support of On Eagle Wings Belize and SHINE programs will be held on Friday, December 9th at the Hidden Treasure Restaurant. Both non-profit organizations encourage young people and women in the community by providing them with resources to become who they are meant to be in society. It also provides them with hope, empowerment and the opportunity of a brighter future. Tickets for the event cost $80BZ, and will include entry to the cocktail holiday party, fancy hors d’ oeuvres and drink specials.47 Michelle and Savanna Nunez for SHINE-3
All proceeds from this event will go towards the SHINE program ‘Thrive’ presently taking place at the San Pedro High School. This is an empowerment program open to all students who may need guidance and mentorship. The fundraiser will also benefit an Artisan Project which aims to provide business skills and opportunities to disadvantaged women on the island.
The organizations look forward for everyone’s support as they plan to expand their outreach programs in the community. In January 2017 they seek to start a Women’s Business Program, which will teach women skills such as resume building, and interview skills, among others. This new program will work hand-in-hand with the Artisan Project, and organizers expect that women will greatly benefit from this initiative.
Tickets for the fundraiser can be purchased at Rum + Bean, The Coffee Bar, and Marbuck’s. Ticket holders are also reminded to bring the numbered tag provided upon ticket purchase. The tag will allow them to enter the event.
