Canary Cove staff along with a group of volunteers helped in remodeling the Boca Del Rio Park located in San Pedro Town on Friday and Saturday, October 26th-27th.
Throughout the day, the team of volunteers helped by painting and touching up the various recreational equipment’s like the seesaw, swing set, slide and more. Spearheading the activity was Gil Nuñez, who shared that he asked the staff to participate. He encouraged them to bring their children to make it a family affair and to show the children how to appreciate the efforts that go into providing them with a space to play in. He hopes it instills civic pride and that the children are more appreciative of the space when it's all said and done.
In addition to the remodeling of the park’s recreational equipment, The San Pedro Town Council is also a doing beach reclamation, where sand/material is being added to the front of the area that was lost due to erosion, "reclaiming" the shoreline that once was there.
Special thanks go out to Gaby’s Construction, Castillo’s Hardware and Harmouch Center for donations of paint, brushes, and rollers that were used for the remodeling of the park. Island residents are asked for their cooperation with the SPTC as the beach reclamation works are still underway. Kudos to Canary Cove for the initiative to improve recreational spaces for our island children and community. We join in asking everyone to take care of the park for the future enjoyment of our children.
